Small Business Tips & Tricks

Kirsten Cherry
I am starting a small business that makes specialty drinks (boba, bubble tea) and I am looking for any tips! We aren’t going to have a brick and mortar, instead we will be working farmers market booths and eventually get a food truck or trailer. Today was our first “pop-up” and it went fairly well. We want to jump in and get all of the licensing in order to sell at markets in the area. Does anyone have any tips for opening a small business?Read More...
Kirsten, I like these two sites for business owners (Forbes and Inc.), refer back to them quite often, and read a lot of articles from their Facebook pages.......or sign up for their newsletters if you are inclined: https://www.forbes.com/entrepreneurs https://www.inc.comRead More...
So much advice..........and I recommend speaking with a CPA to get the most updated advice because profit has to occur at some point to remain a business. Lots of tax rules and awakenings if you've never owned a buisness. If that base is already covered, just keep track of every penny coming in and going out. New business owners often cannot pay themselves for quite awhile so make sure you are prepared. You said your business was going to be a specialty business, so staying on top of trends...Read More...

The Importance of Taking Action

Moore Income
If you hang around any internet marketing or "make money online" circles for any length of time, you are sure to hear all about the importance of taking action. And rightfully so, because taking action truly is what separates those who succeed from those who don't. This past Saturday I had an experience that reminded me just how important taking action is and how it can be profitable. Friday night, I was searching Facebook marketplace for potential items to resell on eBay. I found this one...Read More...

Starting your own business, first time entrepreneurs.

mintjulep
We've successfully managed a business from our home for more than 20 years. We had a bit of an advantage because I also had a job that brought in income while my partner in life was able to quit his job to get the business started. I was a self-employed, experienced real estate agent with a good client base so I could take over paying bills. If one does not have that reliable income to fall back on, it's important to have some source of savings or a business loan to support your normal...Read More...
I had my own business for 12 years and it really was the best job I ever had Life necessitated that I make some changes to a traditional 9-5 with benefits for the time being, but I have every intention to return to being my own boss full-time in the future. I have been hitting around the idea of doing it again part-time, just not sure if it's the right time for that.Read More...

Google My Business Listing

Why haven't more businesses claimed their free Google My Business listing? It seems to me to be a very effective way to establish a profile to allow your prospects to find you and learn about your business.Read More...

It is unfortunate that many businesses don't understand the power of claiming and optimizing a google business listing. There is so much you can do, and the fact that it is run by google means it is great for SEO optimization purposes. For any business who wants to be relevant online, it is a must! I think it can even affect a business financially if they don't claim their listing because there are so many ways you can update it to attract more people to your business. What was your biggest challenge getting started online?

Deon Christie
It all started with a single email, and I will never forget the system. Click Cash Commissions was some sort of code to enter on your website or blog. And at the time I didn't even have a blog. Needless to say it didn't really work for me, but it did however spark a curiosity rather unexpected. Allow me to add, I knew nothing about anything online marketing. But the claims looked promising. Therefore my biggest challenge was choosing a niche I knew nothing about. And had really limited PC...Read More...

I think we all get sucked down that rabbit hole @Bonnie Squires . Especially with all the glittering " proof " right? One of the methods to create compelling content is to address a common need within a niche. Now who doesn't want extra cash? Which is why it's such an effective marketing tactic. But I have grown quite considerably since. Much wiser these days.Read More...

Through personal experience most " Traffic Packages " are nothing more than robotic " hits ". Especially the really cheap ones from insecure sites. Which will destroy your blog ranking capability in search engines. And if you're still looking for a " Traffic Package " that will generates sales? Then good luck to you. Because that is not the purpose of most " Traffic Packages ". The really worth while packages will boost your analytic result in search engines. And boost your site Alexa Rank...Read More...

There are the two options namely paid and free traffic. Where the best free traffic will always be SEO. Because no other site process even close the unique searches Google does per day (over 3.5 Billion). Another great way to generate more free traffic is YouTube videos. Which also involve a lot of videoSEO. What they don't tell you is that even with the best keyword and search phrase placement. You do need steady visitors to show up in search results. Not necessarily thousands, but steady.Read More...

Side Hustles - Are You Cut Out To Be Your Own Boss?

Do you need more money to make ends meet? You could get a part-time job or start a side hustle business. A job doesn't require a startup investment but often doesn't end up paying well. What to do if you cannot afford hosting costs?

Speaking from experience, I know how hosting costs scared me getting started. And not to mention the necessity of adding the Yoast SEO Premium Plugin for WordPress. The two most important factors of having a profitable blog. I soon realized that “ Basic ” or “ Shared ” hosting however effective. It is advised to rather try the more advanced hosting options. Search engine optimization also known as SEO. While search engine ranking is important. Showing up in search results is where the real traffic comes from. Therefore many sites that show up on the results page is not necessarily a Page Rank One site. Quite the contrary. Because to appear on the result page is determined by your target search phrase density. Or target keyword density. The trick however is to use the search phrase or target keyword within context of the content. Suggested...Read More...
From what I have heard, Google no longer allows people to track page rank. All of the sites allowing you to "check page rank" actually aren't showing correct information because Google stopped making that info available a while ago. Here is an article talking more about this . Google still uses PageRank when ranking websites, but this information is no longer available to the public. MOZ did create a tool to better measure your SEO. This is done by providing you with a Domain Authority and...Read More...

YouTube and Google Ads (Formerly Google AdWords)

Deon Christie
The particular channel I used to test this particular method. Was only launched Thursday 28 February 2019. And did result in far better results than I have anticipated. With YouTube Video, target keyword placement and the Hashtag plays an important role to getting exposure. But that's a topic for another time. Now I’m just going to briefly explain exactly what I have done. To leverage Google Ads and YouTube showing actual sales in my ClickBank account. Because to do a step by step from new...Read More...
Thanks @Moore Income , must admit it was better that I expected. Actually the link in the video description is an affiliate offer. But also a membership I use to own the first two URLs in the video description. Because I prefer to promote that which I know for a fact works. And the next is to a very well designed blog with...Read More...

Same here @Moore Income , but once I realized LinkedIn's potential I started digging deeper. How to build your credibility through recognition

Deon Christie
Knowledge and presentation are the only "secrets" to actually making money online, instead of dreaming about it. And knowledge can only be obtained through research, which will lead to recognition. The only difference between the super successful online earners and the ones not quite as successful yet, is time. Recognition starts with social media, from Facebook and Google+ to Twitter with no exception to LinkedIn. But with a faceless profile you will have a hard time convincing audiences...Read More...

Let's talk WordPress plugins with a dash of Google

Deon Christie
What are plugins and why are they important with professional blogging? Plugins are blogging tools and simplifies most of the more technical tasks with blogging. Like SEO (which is a nightmare to newbies), and https protocol issues which can make potential subscribers feel unsafe. But each plugin has a specific purpose, and the key is to use them in order to achieve a certain result. Or perform a specific task, like in post banner displays. How do plugins influence Google? Google is the...Read More...
I too started with All In One SEO, but strongly advise you to keep going with Yoast. Nothing wrong with All In One SEO getting started, but more and more pro bloggers (Neil Patel) are using Yoast. The Yoast SEO Premium is a little expensive, but an investment well worth the sacrifice (around $88 I think). I have learned much of what I know about blogging SEO from Yoast. Through the free courses they offer as a premium subscriber. SEO is about a whole lot more than the keywords, because there...Read More...
I have used All In One SEO in the past. Currently, I decided to give Yoast a try. Not sure how much I like it yet. I might ultimately end up switching back to All In One SEO. I have heard that Thrive Comments are also good but I think you have to use it with a Thrive theme.Read More...
