@Susan L. Miller We have used Freecycle off and on for years. We got the foot and headboards for our queen-sized bed through the program. We have seen many items we no longer use go to other homes that would use them and recommend it heartily! We have also used our "Marketplace" here in our area on Facebook to buy and sell things. There are so many ways to go and programs to use! Happy selling...and as one of our mentors says "Think..and grow RICH!"Read More...

Estate Sales and good evening! I'm fairly new

Juleigh Hastings
Hello, I want to say a little bit regarding my last career which was a blast, sometimes sad, mostly endearing, mostly made excellent money, educating, and much more. I was and Estate Sales Professional. I am telling you all this because I am getting started on conducting my own in three weeks. I have been reading all of The Penny Hoarder site on Side Hustles to sell, and from experience, thankfully, actually, anyone can do this! We have so many items to sell, so many people need things as...Read More...
@Juleigh Hastings , welcome to the Penny Hoarder Community. You're right about the "presentation" issue. It's usually the best thing to make things look their best. At times, we've "antiqued" some things to make it look as if it were from the time period they ere trying to represent. It helps. Good look in going on your own. There are SO many ways to make money through online sales and even personal sales it almost scary if someone misses them and loses out. Looking forward to hearing more...Read More...
I agree about making items look their best. No matter what you are selling, make it look the best you can.Read More...

It is time consuming and the lure of extra points to stop in a store when you don't need anything (for example 100 points to walk into Carter or 200 points for Best Buy on Saturday) may lead to impulse purchases and blow any 'bonus' you may have gotten... I rarely do Shopkick anymore as I do not need to go into a store like Carter's unless I'm buying a gift for someone and I've found that diapers make a better baby gift than more clothes..Read More...

Side hustle from home

Leslie Kay
I am the self-proclaimed side hustle queen amongst my friends and family. I am limited by some health issues and income restrictions so I have to watch for certain criteria. But I hear that frequently in this forum so I thought that I would share my latest money-making find. They pay you thru Paypal and your 1099 is from Paypal, not the company. I have started being an ESL tutor online . I particularly like Cambly for the majority of people because you do not have to have any college degree...Read More...
@Adam My wife said she heard that there were some inflated #'s, but they might or might not be a deterrent to her trying to do the job. It wouldn't necessarily be new, but thanks for bringing that back to our attention.Read More...
Teaching ESL is definitely a legitimate industry, and many companies like Cambly are recruiting teachers to hold classes online. The "off" part your wife may have felt was that many teaching websites (because demand for ESL teachers is so high) have a commission/recruitment system for teachers. Some teachers get a small boost in pay by recruiting new teachers to the platform, which can lead to sometimes exaggerated claims. Just make sure to do your due diligence before signing up. For TPH's...Read More...

How I'm Making Money on Poshmark

I previously commented in the side hustle post about selling on Poshmark. I'm currently am selling maternity clothes that I recently stopped wearing and I bought a box of returned Amazon clothes from Liquidation.com for $300 with shipping. In just a few weeks I've made $180. I had no sales the week of Christmas, but they seem to be picking back up. So far, I've made $110 off my maternity clothes and $70 off of 3 items from the Amazon returns. I've been slow to post pictures on Poshmark due...Read More...
@Cathy927 The youth these days seem to be more on top of the net than most of us old-timers. I've got neighbors whose children sell more on Poshmark than most people sell at a yard sale. I never knew there was such a place until one of my nieces told us she sold some of her clothes there. She made more in one week than she had made at her regular place of employment. It was hard to believe until I saw it for myself.Read More...
My granddaughter, came out of her bedroom the other evening with things she sold on Poshmark. I had no clue what that was. I always sold on Ebay. The girl is 17 years old selling her clothes and going to Goodwill and buying more to sell. She is making more than if she worked at a fastfood place. She is now giving me advice! And good advice also! Using her iphone6. Happy Poshing Crystal!Read More...

Instacart

hi, does anyone here shop for instacart? I was thinking it could be a good side gig for me but I want more info first. 😉 Thanks!Read More...
Since I started delivering for Instacart some time ago, they have implemented something in their app that allows you to pick up any extra orders that people scheduled to work can't do. Since then, I have never scheduled myself for shifts but rather just picked up any orders that I had time to do. I really like the flexibility this allows and it means you can choose to do delivery only orders or do orders that include having to shop for the items. This way, if the distance for delivery is too...Read More...
Very interesting reviews. I use Instacart to have my groceries shopped and delivered, and have thought about working with them when I get a car, but I thought more seriously about it... NOT!! I don't do my own grocery shopping!! LOL I like having the groceries delivered, but my shoppers/drivers tend to shop neighborhood stores. Normally, I would not. Some are very inexperienced as shoppers and what you get may not be exactly what you ordered. Food prices are too expensive (can't take...Read More...

Tips on using liquidation.com

I only bought new items but fell into the cheap Chinese quality situation. I had been bidding on a pallet of clothing thinking it was returned goods but it turned out to just be USED clothing for kids. The bid ended and I didn't have the funds available the date that was required so I asked for a 2-day extension on payment. Well, they said no to that and my punishment was that they completely closed my buying account. It actually probably saved me $350 that I'd never make on a pallet of name...Read More...

Hey Hoarders! I've been pondering a lot lately about different side hustle strategies to bring in some extra side income each month. I'm interested to hear from other bloggers who have used this strategy successfully and whether they have any insights into how to make it work? I recently wrote an...Read More...

Employment in the trades

I love stories like this. https://www.thepennyhoarder.co...%7B%7Bitr_uuid%7D%7D The trades are so, SO important and often overlooked by people considering careers.
