My perspective would most likely be different if I were married (to share the experience with someone special), but I am happily single.
That being said, this isn't an either/or decision, or it doesn't have to be. It only takes planning and budgeting to save for the future and these trips. Of course, if you make more money, it will be easier, but even if you don't, depending on the type of trip you want, it should be possible.
Everything you mention makes sense to me. Being single myself, I have not been on vacation in 6 years. Also I planned out my last trip months in advance.
Currently, I am debating if I want to fly to Detroit for a family reunion in September or drive there with my sister, or just skip the whole thing once again.
