Is it better to have several companies compete for your business or should I just go to Home Depot or Lowes and order system and have a recommended contractor install the water system to save money.
Which one is best for Seniors that cant be carrying heavy bags of salt?

I would like to know the answer also. we are going to be needing to replace our system. I have been quoted around 2000. to 3900. I can by a system at lowes for 400.
I’ve had a Whirlpool water softener at least 10 years+ and bought it at Lowe’s inexpensively. Don’t exactly remember the price but certainly well under $800 and they installed it. It keeps kicking along, but I do have maintenance checks on it yearly or I try to. Morton just came out with these salt blocks instead of the pellets…much easier to lift the bags and put in the softener. Where I live, the water is hard, so I don’t intend to ever be without one.
