Hello Penny Hoarder Community,

What are some of you guys and gals favorite ways to earn extra income? I've tried some passive income avenues such as inbox dollars, nielsen rewards, and Bing rewards. I'm trying to look into some alternatives to these that aren't necessarily passive but better ways to earn more. Please let me know what you all do!

1.) I found a local mom that needed help bringing her kids to daycare, which is 5 minutes down the road. Takes me about an hour to get the kids ready in the morning and drive them and my pay is $15 each time.

2.) I use my credit cards for big purchases and 5% cashback rewards categories and schedule payments from my debit right after to avoid a balance. I earn about $50-100 per month by doing this. I then either apply it to my balance to exchange for gift cards for things such as groceries.

3.) I frequently peruse the class action lawsuits site for claims that may be applicable to me. Not a guaranteed source of income but a great bonus when one comes around, earning me as much as $100 from a settlement.

4.) I have in the past and plan to again this year, after we close on our mortgage...to open bank and savings account that offers incentives such as $250-500 for opening accounts. You have to make sure you follow the fine print requirements such as direct deposit, amount of time account must be open, balance to maintain, etc.

5.) I use grocery rebate apps such as Ibotta, Receiptpal, and Checkout 51.

6.) I am signed up for every possible freebie site/product review site and receive hundreds of dollars of products weekly from food to personal hygiene to dog food, etc. This significantly reduces our grocery expenses. Examples include Moms Meet, SheSpeaks, Smiley360, Viewpoints. I list a lot of these on Instagram @Freebiepharm

I know there is more because it is a passion, or should I say an obsession of mine, but that is all I can think of at the time.

Have fun with your side hustle!

Most of my additional income comes from the gig economy (food delivery).

The other thing I do for extra income is buy and resell things. This can be a nice boost to your income especially when you are able to get things at a good deal and resell them at a higher price. It is not difficult to get into either.

I am really working extra to get the second income source up as I will soon be leaving my job and these two will become my primary sources of income.

Besides this, if you can provide any types of services to people or businesses, that is a great way to earn money.

I am using my skills in digital marketing to provide services to other companies and hope to develop a business doing that as my primary source of income in the future.

If you have any specific skills, chances are somebody out there needs them and would be willing to pay money for them.

@FreebiePharm I will have to look into the class action settlements, i've heard a good bit about those. I currently use ibotta a little, which rebate app do you prefer?

I prefer Ibotta. I have earned over $500 in about 3 years. could have saved more if I used it more. My friend earned back that in a year! With checkout 51 I have earned $100+ and Receiptpal about $50. Not much, but every little bit helps and if I was better with referrals, you can make money that way too!

@BJLEE I have heard that LetGo is a tough one. eBay takes some time to get the hang of but once you do it is pretty good.

Also, have you heard of Mercari? They make it pretty easy to list and sell things. I sold a few items but then they banned me and wouldn't tell me why. I think it may had have something to do with dropshipping. But other than that it was great.

You can’t drop ship on Mercari. Their TOS state you must have the item in your possession. Just recently, eBay changed their TOS stating you can’t dropship on their platform either. The only exception is if you are dropshipping from a legitimate wholesaler. I believe you have to present proof too.

@BJLEE Dropshipping is basically selling a product for sale in one place at a higher price at another and making a profit on the difference. There are several different ways you can go about this. I personally like working directly with a supplier who offers dropshipping as a service and reselling on places like eBay.

I would be happy to chat with you more about this if you are interested.

@Moore Income I've tried to sell some items on the letgo app but i haven't had any luck so far. I will definitely try my luck at using ebay or another site. Putting my IT skills to use for outside customers would probably be a good idea as well

I've used letgo and offerup. I've had great success w/both. Sometimes you have to lower your price.

I've never used offerup, is it similar to letgo?

If you've got digital marketing skills, you are in one of the hottest fields right now. Starting a business that supports that is a great way to go. Good luck!
