Knowledge and Presentation are the 2 keys to generating an income online

Knowledge and presentation are the only "secrets" to actually making money online, instead of dreaming about it. And knowledge can only be obtained through research, which will lead to recognition. The only difference between the super successful online earners and the ones not quite as successful yet, is time.

Recognition starts with social media, from Facebook and Google+ to Twitter with no exception to LinkedIn. But with a faceless profile you will have a hard time convincing audiences you are professional. Your social profiles is the perfect place to start. But all profiles must contain as much info as possible, especially the profile picture. It is of utmost importance to use a passport type photo of yourself.

I too love my cat but she is not the one engaging my audiences, I am. And as much as I love my pickup, that too is not a profile picture. You cannot expect an audience to trust you, if you're not prepared to show your face.

A professional profile description is also important and a simple "Woodworking at self" is not a professional description. Display your projects and achievements without boasting. You have to give your audience reason to want to know more by inspiring curiosity. That's how you gain credibility, without which there will be no online sales. Or very little at best.

What does a professional social profile need_

Make your profile as compelling as you possibly can. If you're a woodworking expert, then prove it! Know what your audience may be having a hard time with, and offer solutions that actually work. Not sales pitches, solutions. Because if you're as professional as you claim then you must be able to offer value.

More importantly, you may want to include a link to your own blog in all your social media profiles. Not a free blog, but a domain you own. For which I would highly recommend WordPress. Be sure that what you display in your profiles, are consistent with your blog content.

Making money online is too often misunderstood as an easy task, get rich quick with little effort. Quite the contrary, because to generate a self sustaining kind of income is no easy task. The bigger your dream, the bigger the sacrifice and needed effort. If you're going to be deterred after your first failed attempt, then perhaps you may want to stick with your day job.

You will fail more times than you will later be able to recall, and you have to overcome each failed attempt. Because each failure ads to your vault of knowledge you will later use to actually make money online. And that is why it takes so much time to actually succeed online.

Couldn't agree more. Building recognition is far more important than trying to generate an income. With sufficient recognition the sales will follow eventually. And the "get rich quick" mentality have destroyed many dreams, that only ended in desperation. It takes time to build a Castle.

You're quite right Kenny, there are a lot of scams on the internet. But there is an easy way to check if someone is as professional as they claim to be. Allow me to invite you to one of my LinkedIn posts. Which will guide you on checking the legitimacy of all these "professionals".  The fake SEO expert alert will guide you on how to use Google for authenticity.

Especially with SEO and blogging there are way too many so called professionals, only interested in selling you any random junk. Or backlinks from "high authority" sites which doesn't even have the https protocol enabled.

There are various ways to generate an income online Bonnie. So much so it's overwhelming. My personal favorite being affiliate marketing with blogging. If you want to sell digital items?

You may want to check out BookRix, a page rank 5 publisher that will cost you nothing to publish your work in all major online bookstores. These include Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Barnes & Noble and also Kobo to mention but a few.

You may also want to check out the option to launch a digital product on ClickBank, with over 150,000 affiliate marketers ready to promote your product. Work online as a ClickBank affiliate or vendor is an article that will explain this in more detail.

Hi Bonnie,

A free blog is always a great option on a tight budget. But if you want to actually rank any blog or website a dedicated owned domain is crucial. Like with your second website, the layout of which I admire. Really great design Bonnie, well done! However, I do see one necessity you may want to look into.

Your site "bonniestuff" does not have the https protocol enabled. Which can easily be done by contacting your hosting provider. And ask them to register an SSL certificate for the domain. Once the https protocol is enabled, your site will display as a secure site. This way visitors will feel more at ease to enter personal details like email addresses or credit card details.

As for affiliate marketing, seeing that you already have a ClickBank account. Allow me to invite you to one of my latest posts on how to promote affiliate offers on your site or blog. How to make money with a blog online, will guide you through some of the tactics I personally use.

Hope this helps, but don't hesitate to contact me if you need any help. Have a lovely evening.
