Hi everyone!

Happy 2020 — can you believe it? I’m so excited about this year. I think it’s going to be a good one. From debt payoff to investing, I’ve already read some great financial resolutions here in the community. Here’s to starting off the new year right and accomplishing our financial goals.

We’re kicking off the new year with an exciting stat. We’re 12,000+ community members strong! It’s been great to see all the conversations and support here. We published a roundup of the most popular community discussions from 2019 on The Penny Hoarder. It’s fun to look back on the conversations we had last year. Cheers to you all for making this community what it is!

Finally, we have our first survey of the year. We’re asking: “What are your 2020 money goals?” I know goal setting is important to a lot of us, so if you have a money goal, head on over and share it! We can help keep one another accountable.

Speaking of money goals…

A few Penny Hoarders are organizing a no-spend challenge for the month of January. I love it! After a busy holiday period, January is a great month to reset. If you’re looking for a way to conserve your money this month, you’ll want to check out this thread.

We’d love your thoughts on these threads:

A community member asked whether or not renter's insurance is worth it. Has anyone purchased renter’s insurance? Why or why not? Please consider sharing your thoughts with this member.

This Penny Hoarder is working to build up his credit again. For those of you who have effectively done this — can you share some tips? Let’s continue to support one another as we try to cross off our financial goals.

And, if you’d like some weekend reading…

If you’re looking for some new tools and systems to help with your financial goals this year, our team published a roundup of ten steps to better manage your money. Hope it helps!

Till next week,

Maryann
