Hi everyone,

It’s hard to believe we’re just a week away from August! I hope everyone has had a good month all things considered.

We’re surveying our readers over on The Penny Hoarder. We want to know what kinds of resources and content you’re looking for. What topics do you want to read more about? If you’ve got opinions, voice them here! I’d love to have some community participation! It’ll only take a couple of minutes, and we really do consider every bit of feedback we receive.

There have been some really great conversations in the community this week. Here are a couple of threads I’d love your perspective on:

@Jt Forhan started a thread on the importance of freelancing. He shared some solid reasons on why it’s important to freelance, and how to get work. If freelancing is of interest to you, definitely check out the thread.

Speaking of freelancing, I started a thread on side hustles. I asked specifically for people who have side hustles to share what it is, income generation possibilities and a tip on how to get started. I thought this thread could be helpful for those of you looking for ways to generate more income. If you have a side hustle, please consider sharing in the thread.

For weekend reading, here are some articles this week from The Penny Hoarder:
Unemployment Benefits Expiring? 13-Week Federal Extensions Are Available

If you filed for unemployment early in the pandemic, your state’s benefits may be expiring soon. An extension is available, but you won’t be automatically enrolled. We shared how it works over at The Penny Hoarder.

How to Refresh Your Home’s Look for Free, According to Interior Decorators

Two decorators shared their best tips to help you refresh your home - without spending any money or even leaving your house.

And last but not least, I have a weekend watch for you too.  The Penny Hoarder’s visuals team produced a new video about recessions. While not the most fun topic, I wanted to share it here as I know we all are budget conscious and curious about how current events will affect our wallets. This video outlines how long recessions typically last, including what causes recessions and the types of recoveries to expect. And, what to do during a recession if you lost your job or are lucky to have one. Check it out!

Have a great weekend!
