I always follow a 50-20-30 plan myself. Every time I get a paycheck, I put 50% towards bills and essentials, 20% in savings/emergency funds, and 30% in fun money. Best way to get old delinquent marks off credit report

Forum: Credit
Hi, I was laid off in 2011 and had some late payments on credit cards. Because of this there are delinquent marks on my credit report. All cards were paid off in full but I had several late payments from 2011-2013. What is the best way to get these removed from my credit report. Thank youRead More...
Not always do the 3 credit bureaus erase late payments from your credit report. And it will be at a cost to you. If you file a dispute of any kind it will effect your credit score. If you have these disputes reflecting while you are trying to buy a house for instance, it will bring your score down. DON’T file a dispute while trying to purchase a home. Give the credit bureaus at least 3 months to resolve their findings. A lot of the outcome of removing the late payments activity is up to the...Read More...

Buying or leasing a car

Amber Hurd
I am currently in a lease in the car that I am driving. The only issue that I am having is that I put some major miles on my car. I was only allowed 12,000 per year and I have averaged roughly 22,000 miles in the just 2 years that I have had it. It was brand new and only had 22 miles when I got it and now its up over 47,000 miles. I travel back and forth to work 31 miles one way (62 round trip) plus the same town where I work is where my son goes for his therapies and doctors visits that he...Read More...
@Amber Hurd Certified pre-owned cars from the dealers can offer a great buy for cars with low mileage. In many instances, they will have cars that have only been used for test drives and are like new for a substantial savings in comparison to new car sticker pricing.Read More...
Generally speaking, the best time to buy a new car and get advantage of as any discounts as possible is toward the end of the year. For example, I bought my car at the end of the year, just before Christmas. I did not purchase the most recent "version" of the car. This was at the end of 2015, and dealerships were trying to get the "old" 2015 stock off the lot, so I saved a ton of money by getting a 2015 instead of a 2016. It also opened me up to getting 0% APR financing, since they just...Read More...

I have about 5000.00 in credit card debt. My account was high jacked and some company out of Daytona Beach was billing my debit card monthly, causing my pmts. To bounce. Now they want double payments, which I can’t afford so they tack on extra fees. I feel like I’m drowning. I disputed these charges and they are returning money slowly. I get a check once a month on disability because of a broken back ( chronic fracture) my credit score in the 500 range and no body wants to give me a loan.Read More...

My townhome is just a money pit

Forum: Debt
charlottel
I bought an older (37 yo) fixer upper townhome last September and thought I got a good discount on it. Well I have replaced the whole heating and air system, had to run new duct work, had to replace windows to be able to see out. I had radiation treatments in Jan & Feb and was sick the whole time. Finally went to pulmonologist and found out I have mold in my lungs. So I'm in the process of having mold testing being done. They found a couple of places that were black and hairy and did a...Read More...
Real estate laws are very specific to the different states in the USA so I can only share what is expected in my state, Florida. Unless mold is visible or suspected because of something like odor or obvious and continued dampness in a home, etc. the home inspectors in FL typically do not test for mold. There are certified mold testing companies and licensed mold removal companies that are hired to determine if there is mold present and to get rid of it. However, the inspectors here always...Read More...

Debt Payoff vs Savings Scenarios

MountainFan
This is a scenario I always feel so unsure about: Say someone has a small savings account of about $300. (This is their only cash asset) But they also have a credit card with about 90% usage. (Lets say the total balance is $900) Is it a bad move to take that $300 and apply it to that high credit card balance? In my thinking, it can be good or bad. It could be fairly scary to have no savings at all- especially if an emergency did arise, but it would also be beneficial to not have 90% usage on...Read More...

Savings tips I implemented while traveling

As most of you know, I just returned from my first overseas trip after being away for two weeks - which means I had to budget for TWO WEEKS of travel. WOW. How was I going to make sure I didn't run out of money on my trip but also have enough money when I returned to pay my rent? I knew I still wanted to do things, but I also wanted to make sure I saved money in the process. Here are a few ways I saved money: * Look for FREE guided tours This was the coolest thing I experienced in London. I...Read More...

When the kids were younger and still at home, we had opportunity to visit Italy as a family. Someone suggested looking up Rick Steves and his online materials. (Europe Through the Back Door). The ideas were real money savers. Another moneysaver was snagging a cheap flight and leaving from an...Read More...

How I Make $600 Working 8 Hours a Week.

Forum: Make Money
Hey! My name is Soloman. I’m 21 years old and I make $600/week working 8 hours total. I can’t guarantee you’ll make as much as I do. Every state has it’s own average salary and other things that may result in more or less income. But this works for me and I hope it works for you. I’m a professional reseller. I used to sell on EBay strictly. But now I sell on Amazon, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, OfferUp, Letgo...etc Before anyone thinks you need a bunch of money to make money let me shut...Read More...
@Rosemary Green Great suggestion! I have personally gone to a few local auctions. Not storage auctions, but auctions where they are selling all sorts of stuff. You can get a lot of stuff for cheap, but I have found that the stuff you do get cheap is generally not the best items to resell. There is quite a bit of competition at auctions so it is harder to get items at a good price to resell. I have looked into storage auctions, but from what I have heard, those are pretty competitive as well.Read More...

If anyone has a question on tenant rights in NYC..I'm that chick.

Hello everyone. I am from the city that never sleeps...NYC. They say if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere! Well...it's true bc boy let me tell you guys, it is so tough. And to find a roof over your head is yet the toughest. There are a lot of scam artists, haters, fake, money hungry, pessimistic, energy vampires, little spirituality, broke, lazy people here. Hi Lolita, sharing some of the situations you've gone through would probably help a lot of renters. Unfortunately, the landlords usually know the landlord/tenant laws but renters do not. Hi all - I'd like to get a big start to earning from home/side hustles/gigs while I build my dream business. I've just signed up with REV (transcription) and do some reselling, but my turnover is super low and slow :( Any other ideas on how to quickly scale my side hustles?
