Most of the people today are tech savvy and easy is the key. FOR ALL. I make up “gifties” cosmetics, bath & body, haircare, and techie. Everyone loves to get a bunch of gifts, and a bunch of little helpers for daily living get used; there not gifts that get put in the closet. I suggest to stay safe and get what your people use.
This is really interesting! I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the whole gift giving concept. I think the “buy, buy, buy” mentality that comes along with the holidays has us all purchasing lavish gifts we think people will like versus. what people actually want/need.
Curious what other budget-friendly gifts people are thinking to purchase this holiday season?

My elderly parents don’t need stuff — as my Dad says repeatedly, they’re getting rid of stuff, not bringing more home. This year they each get a themed basket from me . For Mom I found a great, sturdy basket from a thrift shop and filled it with jars of olives, pickles, cheeses, crackers and turkey sausage. They like to eat their main meal at lunchtime then take their dog on a 2 mile walk, so after the evening news they like a little snack with wine. Mom can plant flowers in the basket in Spring - she has a little greenhouse. For Dad I found a sturdy plastic bin at a dollar store with the cutest 1940s style trucks on it and did a snack themed around “Take me out to the ballgame “ complete with Cracker Jack, small can of classic peanuts and I got lucky to find Beechmans and Blackjack gum as a joke. Dad is a major baseball fan. Useable treats, not clutter. I had so much fun doing it. For my 16 year old son, I got a plastic bucket at the dollar store and filled it with car care items, sponge, car wash, wax, auto wipes, air freshener etc. Of course he’s getting something else as his big gift - kids are still gathering, not getting rid of. ?

I made up some of these in dollar store bags with bath wash, bath balls, cute pens, hand sanitizer and a bunch of trial-sized goodies and offered them up first come first serve on a Facebook website offering free things. These were just cute pick me ups for moms. I gave one to my daughters as well.
I have often made these up in big Ziploc bags with a pair of socks, hand sanitizer, a hat, small baby wipes, some loose change, a comb, soap, etc and I will hand these out instead of money when I see homeless neighbors on the highway entrances.
Everyone likes some new stuff that they can use!

I hate to say this but I have come to the conclusion that making gift bags have always seemed to come out to be more expensive than buying a gift like for my younger cousins and their kids buying Dollar stuff to go in bags is going to come out to idk for instance what’s say $20 a gift bag by the time you put enough to make it a gift… okay we’re as I could go out and get let’s say for my kid cuz i could probably get her a toy on sale for five or six dollars on sale that’s normally a 20 Dollar toy and is probably something she would rather have plus they wouldn’t know what I really spent I’m guessing pol who think that this is a cheaper way must not be as broke as I seem to see them make out on this site. Cause when i see something say a cheaper way and it’s something like this it kinda shocks me but I start buying Christmas early and bargain shop since all I get is s a 780 SSI check to take care of my kid with makes Christmas hard.

I received a homemade gift basket for Christmas last year. My favorite item was pair of striped fuzzy socks. Love to wear them at home on cold days.

I am giving one of my daughters a haircare giftie. She loves scrunchies. So, I have a bunch of them, hair oils, wet brush and i always throw in hand sanitizers, charms, and chapsticks. They love it!

i at senior court, cook dinners and share with the senior who are older have no family, and i think they deserve a special meal once in a while
