No savings for both of you or just you? Either way, first thing is to do a budget and see if theres any money to save. Then I assume youre looking for work since you said you want to be able to help provide for your mom? If you are able to live off your spouse’s income, then all or most of your income can go to savings so you can build your nest egg quickly, which if youre 50 with no savings needs to happen today.
