Think about it, you’ve been asked out on a date and all of a sudden your date does not have enough money to cover where you 2 are going to. What do you do ? Are you prepared?
Just go walk around the park, or grab a coffee, or grab a coffee and walk around a park and chat. I’m a huge believer in not spending a ton of money on dates because I don’t see any value in investing a lot of money in an opportunity that I don’t know much about yet (i.e. if it’s a first date, you’ve no idea what you’re getting into).
For subsequent dates going forward, you’d probably have an idea of your own / their money situation to go to places that are affordable to both of you.
It’s like anything: just be transparent and honest (about your money situation) and you’ll have good results (you guys won’t go on dates that are beyond your means).

I once went on a date where the guy took me to the video store. No problem, right? We pick out a move and then watch it, but no… ? Long story and one of my all time funniest dates ever.
However, that would be my cheapest date, I think. We certainly don’t need to spend a lot on a date, especially the first one! You don’t even know if you are interested in moving forward yet, so I liked it when they were simple.
got coffee and walked around the park sat down on a bench and enjoyed conversation cheap but nice
I spent about $63.00. Most expensive over $300.00. Sorry but I treat a woman right when I go on dates. Hand holding, open doors for her to walk through first, pull out the chair and slide it back in just how she wants it. Walks along the waterfront after dinner. Sorry, I don’t do cheap very well.
Ladies go ahead and give me your honest opinion.

All the good things you mentioned don’t cost a thing! And I expect most of those manners anyway. All plusses in my book.
Honestly, for a first date I prefer just drinks and a conversation. Not that I’d turn down a meal, but I have been on too many dates, even in my 40’s, where it was expected that I’d give something just because he paid for the date. ? Thank goodness I am out of that scene now. Although I did really enjoy meeting new people and doing new things.

I always bring enough to cover. Just in case…
Finding a park for a simple picnic on a weekend. volunteering at an animal shelter, renting/brining bikes to a popular trailhead, and heading to farmers markets have been hits for me in the past.
