2022 Savings Goals

2022 is just around the corner, and that means that if you start now, you can get a head start on all next years financial goals!

With that in mind, I figured I would post this out there so we can all share a savings goal we hope to achieve in the next year.

It will be cool to put it here and then come back at the end of next year and see how many of us were able to achieve our goals!

My Main Money Saving Goal: To save up a 3 month Emergency Fund

Stretch Goal: Save up 6 months of emergency savings

Similar goal here. I’d like a 6-9 month fund.

Add more sinking funds to my budget so I can fully fund:
kid’s summer camp
annual vehicle registration
back to school expenses

I had emergency savings, but I used it to take a class, so it’s still an investment in myself. So my primary goal is to save 3 months in emergency savings. I need to contribute to HSA, Roth IRA and 401k.

Save for SEP IRA 2022 contributions.

I am doing the Ramsey Baby Steps.

  1. Pay off remaining debt (besides mortgage)

  2. Max out 401k and ROTH IRA contributions

  3. Bulk up emergency fund

  4. Start a college savings plan for my son (Coverdell ESA and/or 529)

I don’t really have anything that earth shattering, but I would like to contribute about $3,000 to my Roth IRA. I’m way behind on my retirement savings - I won’t say how much, but I need to catch up! Since I work part-time it can be a little tricky to find the extra money to save, but I need to continue to do it.
