If you do a side hustle, work a part-time job or participate in the gig economy, which smartphone apps do you use to make your life easier?
One of our writers is working on a story highlighting apps that help people with: mileage tracking, taxes, time management, schedule keeping, organization, finding work and more.
If you’re a side hustler, gig worker or do a part-time job and have an app recommendation, drop your suggestions below!
I have recently started using an app called Everlance to track mileage. (Although I am not sure it matters with the new tax reforms)
It does make it really easy to see how many miles I am driving. It even allows you to break it down into different categories. For me, since I drive for multiple different companies, this is really helpful to be able to see how much money I am actually making from each company in relation to the money I spend on gas, etc.
For getting paid, I set up an account with the Chime mobile banking app. This has been very helpful in allowing me to separate my side income from my regular income.
The app works really well and helps you to track income and expenses easily. They also give you FREE access to a large network of ATM’s making it very simple to access your funds.
They even have a referral/sign up bonus program that gives you $50 when you sign up and direct deposit $200 or more. This allowed me to make a nice little bonus when I first started driving since most companies pay you via direct deposit.
For finding extra work like odd jobs, I recommend using the Nextdoor app. This app allows you to connect with people in your neighborhood and it is pretty easy to just put up a post letting people know what you are willing to do.
I always get people responding to my posts and have even gotten a weed killing job by doing this. I know of several other people who have gotten work this way as well.
There is also an app called House of Gigs that gives you a list of all the gig economy jobs available in your area. They are working on developing a banking app specifically geared towards people who work in the gig economy. I recently did a survey where they asked what features were important to us and it looks like they are really trying to make it a good app. This is definitely something to keep an eye on! (Won $50 for participating in their survey too )

Using apps is part of my structure @briana. For instance I use all the social apps like YouTube, Facebook and Linkedin. And I managed to build a LinkedIn Connection count of currently just under 17K. It makes the engagement side of things a lot easier. Although I’m still horribly falling behind. Apps really make many tasks a lot easier for me from an online marketing point of view.
Social apps is the perfect way to build recognition through engagement. There are also quite a few Chrome and Firefox extensions that work just as good.

You’re way ahead of me on apps @moore.income. I only got as far as social platform apps…lol! I’ll take a look, thanks for sharing.
